Circa 1946, FEN Hachinohe, originally known as WVTH
broadcast with a power of 250 watts.
SSgt Bob Warren,
known on the air as "The Night Owl," recently shared his memories of FEN
Hachinohe towards the end of its existence. The station was located at Camp Haugen
from 1953 to 1956. Bob recalls signing off the station for the last time before the
facilities were moved to Misawa circa 1956.
Among Bob's colleagues were Biff Cole and Pat Patrick.
Bob "Rafe" Rafelson of FEN Hachinohe went on
to produce "The Monkees" TV show and to direct the movie "Five Easy Pieces.
